Leslie Wedding

This past weekend I had "double-duty". I was both the photographer and maid of honor at one of my best friend's wedding. What a blast!! The wedding was cowboy-chic themed - lots of browns and pastels. Here's just a few of my favs:

Tough guys wear orange

Photo shoot with my boy! We just purchased his first cowboy hat and had to get some pics with him in it. Can we say "future lady killer"?

iPad Finger Painting

I'm experimenting with a new medium: My iPad!!! These are a little rough considering I'm still learning the program, and it's not actual paint. Just my fingers, a 6x8 screen and a killer app called ArtRage. Fun stuff, and no mess.

Morgan - My Sassyfrass

Took some pictures of my Morgan, and I must say the girl is gorgeous! Doesn't it look like music needs to go with these pics? Maybe a little Taylor Swift?

Princess LaNora

Happy 1st Birthday LaNora!

My niece celebrated her first birthday over the weekend. She is such a princess, and thus the reason we decked her out from head-to-toe with pink frills. The lighting couldn't have been better that afternoon in my backyard. A bit of haziness from thunder clouds makes for lighting. Then you add white blanket, pink cowgirl hat, and beautiful little girl and you have the perfect photo shoot!

Here's a few of my favorite shots:

Baby Shower Cakes

Top 4 Baby Shower Cakes:

1) Pregnant Belly Cake - This was a blast to make. The belly was made from a Wilton sports ball cake pan. Fondant makes up the majority of the details, plus I sprinkled the gown with edible glitter dust. Gender was unknown so we added a blue ribbon with pink pearl trim around the bust to accommodate both genders!

2) Pink Western Baby Shower Cake - This is your basic round cake with pink and white frosting. The rope name and cow print was made from fondant, as well as the paisley design. And of course, the baby girl's name was Ella!

3) Western Baby Girl Cake - The teddy bear was created with a Wilton small bear cake pan. The hat, cowgirl boots, and rope were molded from fondant. The stripes were a variety of ribbon purchase at the craft store.

4) Western Baby Shower Cake - Two-tiered gender neutral western cake covered with fondant. Added a red bandanna, fake hay, and beanie horse to complete the look.

2)
Here are some of my favorite birthday cakes I've done over the past couple years.

1) Lightning McQueen Cake!!! My son was/is still obsessed with Disney Cars and Lightning McQueen. I made this one for his 2nd birthday. I bought a race car cake mold and used Hostess Ding Dongs for the wheels. The eyes, mouth, etc., are fondant. And of course, I replaced the #95 with #2 to make it more personalized.

2) Superman emblem cake - your basic sheet cake with the Superman emblem made from fondant.

3) Buzz Lightyear - What kid doesn't like Buzz? Again, another obsession for my son. I made Buzz out of fondant and used green airbrush spray for the background.

4) Monster Truck Cake - Chocolate whipped frosting and crushed graham crackers and Oreos for the "mud". the flag deco on the sides and flame are made out of fondant. I bought the matchbox cars from the $1 store and had my son smash them a little with a hammer, which he loved. Added a little "smash action" myself with the red monster truck sliding off the side. This was fun to make!

5) Princess Crown Cake -  This is your basic 2-tiered cake covered with white fondant and colored fondant details. Bought the crown at the toy store and whoala!

6) Princess Castle Cake - The towers are merely fondant covered paper towel rolls and the tower roof tops are sugar ice cream cones. The rest is fondant and frosting!

7) Pink Skull cake - The inspiration for this was obviously the party decor theme we bought from Birthday Express. Froze the round cake and after a few hours cut into skull shape. That's about it!
